IN MEMORIAM
RIP Christopher Reimer
CALGARY INDIE SCENE MOURNS THE SUDDEN LOSS OF WOMEN GUITARIST
BY BENJAMIN BOLES

The Calgary music scene is in shock of the passing of Christopher Reimer, the 26 year old guitarist for Women, and also a touring member of the Dodos.

Women were currently on hiatus following an onstage fist fight, which was blamed on extreme exhaustion and stress after spending too much of the past few years on the road.

Apart from touring with the Dodos, Reimer was also working on his own solo material, which saw him turning his guitar into an ambient music tool. You can hear a recording of a recent solo show here, and Women’s Canadian label Flemish Eye have just posted a solo recording from a 2010 compilation with their heartbreaking obit

Reimer passed away in his sleep Monday night, and while cause of death is still unknown, Flemish Eye’s Ian Russell has stated that he suffered from a heart condition and other health problems. A memorial page has been set up by his sister Nikki Reimer, so those that have crossed paths with the musician can share their photos and memories.

Here’s one of Reimer’s solo songs from 2010.
